Suggested Preparation Steps

Let’s imagine that you have gathered all the ingredients for your homemade teriyaki chicken meal, so what’s next?

Well, as your first step, prepare the chicken breasts for cooking. Cut the breasts into thin strips.

Then you will need a bowl to put your chicken breasts in it. Add flour, salt, pepper, and mix them well. Now toss the chicken well to make sure that it is fully coated with the dry flour mixture.

Attention! Do not add any water or other liquid! We need a dry flour coating on the chicken!

When chicken is coated with the dry flour mixture, heat vegetable oil on the frying pan on medium heat, and add the pieces of chicken in the oil one by one. Fry the chicken on one side until it becomes golden, and then flip it to the other side.

Now take your golden chicken pieces out of the frying pan and put them on the plate covered with the paper towel to soak up the excess oil. Discard dry flour mixture leftover if any.

Then use the same pan with vegetable oil on low heat, add soy sauce and brown sugar (can be replaced with honey to your preferences). Stir the ingredients well. This combination should be cooked for another minute. You can add some salt to your taste.

Now it is time to put the chicken in this best teriyaki sauce and cook for approximately 4 minutes. Keep cooking the chicken until completely coated with the thickened sauce. In case the sauce is still thin, you can simmer it while frequently stirring until it reaches medium consistency.

In the end, pour the remains of the thick teriyaki sauce over the chicken. Sprinkle sesame seeds on the chicken and add some sesame oil to your taste. Your teriyaki chicken meal is ready! Serve it with steamed vegetables or white rice according to your taste and preferences.
